Abstract

This study attempts to describe some of the distinctive characteristics of family enterprises. By using qualitative approach, the results show that there are several characteristics of the family company, including the involvement of family members, shared learning environment, high reliability, emotionally attached, less formal and double leadership. Moreover, family companies have several advantages, in terms of high level of independence of action, high level of existence of stability, identification, motivation, strong commitment, and continuity in leadership, and the willingness to reinvest profits according to mutual agreement to develop the company.
