Abstract

Due to abundance of information and its availability in various types, the role of the library and information science (LIS) profession has changed. In the 21st century, several changes were made to the position and aspirations of librarians and information professionals, as well as the library services. The unparalleled proliferation of knowledge and the role of producing, transmitting and accessing information of electronic communications and mobile technologies. The modern library and database professionals must turn from the record maintainer to the content managers in order to cope with these problems. This article addresses (i) the importance of libraries and centres, (ii) the transformation of libraries, (iii) the knowledge world's temperature,(iv) LIS professions' challenges and (v) their new positions and skills in this paradigm change.

This paper examines the role of library professionals in facilitating knowledge and applying the knowledge center to academic libraries. The paper also states that the Library professional into knowledge facilitators using collaborative techniques and has the function of encouraging people to make informed decisions by educating people more effectively. The paper finally highlights the role of library professionals in promoting information in the management of digital technology, skills and challenges.
